The most recent Harvard study on media bias found that the mainstream media favors the Democratic party, while at the same time are more likely to report the Republican party in a negative fashion. Most stunning was how bias newspapers are in covering the major political parties, which probably has contributed to the steady decline of readers over the past decade. According to the study newspapers cover the Democratic party in a positive fashion 58.8 percent of the time, compared to 26.4 percent for the Republicans.
It is also interesting how NPR's "Morning Edition," consists of biases toward one political party. Since it depends on state and federal funds to stay on air, one would think it would do a better job of hiding their favoritism toward the Democratic Party. Think again, when covering Democrats NPR stories are negative only 5 percent of the time. When covering Republicans, however, the stories are negative 20 percent of the time, or 4 times more than stories about Democrats.
