Hillary's fallout from last Tuesday's debate stemmed from two things: the refusal of the mainstream media to pay attention to the controversies surrounding her, and her Democrat opponents' fear of engaging her on issues. Recently, her opponents have realized that the media do not plan to change their course in how they cover Hillary, so to have any chance on narrowing the large gap she enjoys in the polls they would have to be more aggressive. This is what led to the feisty exchanges in Tuesdays debate, not the Democratic moderators questions, which is what the Ms. Clinton's camp would want you to believe. In a conference call, designed to control the fallout, a Ms. Clinton supporter even stated that moderator Tim Russert "should be shot."
Ms. Clinton probably still expects the media to not cover her contradictions and probably violations of campaign finance laws, but Democratic opponents have now shown their willingness to point of her contradictions, and if she makes it to the general elections the Republican candidate will have no problem pointing out both.
