The Intended or Unintended "Silver Lining" In John Roberts Majority Opinion

A 5-4 vote for or against Obamacare, is still a 5-4 vote. That's a little too close for comfort.

The majority opinion eluded to using the court's power sparingly,  deferring back to the legislature whenever possible, ie "the people".  If that's the case, we also have to include the "people's power" of electing a President.  A person who will have the very sobering and important power of being able to appoint judges to our Supreme Court.

If we keep electing liberals, we're doomed anyway.
As easily as Roberts could have solved all our problems with his 1 vote how quickly could a liberal in his same shoes gone the other way? And is that left leaning court only an election away?

This very well may be the universe Justice Robert's lives in. A reality of what we face in the future if we keep electing people who don't have this country's best interests in mind.

There's also a pretty good chance our next President will make get to make an appointment to the Court. Maybe Robert's decision was a  wake up call, intended or unintended, that we need to win elections for a long long time to come.
